Digital design (CAD) based on Autodesk Fusion 360

Information about training in this course.

Course objective: Provide fundamental theoretical knowledge and basic practical skills necessary for developing product digital designs in Autodesk Fusion 360

The training takes place in a classroom format at Tartu mnt. 18, Tallinn, equipped for practical work. The group size is limited to 8 participants. The course fee includes all study materials and licenses. A laptop is provided for the duration of the training if needed.

Target group:

This course is for you if you:

  • are a beginner with no CAD experience and want to learn product design in Fusion 360 from scratch;
  • are a design engineer or technologist and would like to move to a modern cloud-based CAD/CAM tool;
  • are an industrial or product designer and need to model products and prepare them for manufacturing;
  • are a 3D printing or CNC specialist and are interested in creating your own models for printing and machining (CAM);
  • are a maker, inventor or DIY enthusiast and want to turn ideas into finished 3D models;
  • are changing careers from another field and plan to move into design and digital manufacturing;
  • are a student of an engineering or design discipline and would like practical skills and a project portfolio;
  • are an entrepreneur or small manufacturer and need to design products and tooling yourself.

Requirements for students:

  • confident PC user
  • basic English proficiency (approximately equivalent to A1/A2 level)
  • it is desirable to have a personal laptop (Windows/Mac, 8 GB RAM, screen size > 13.3 inches); a laptop will be provided for the duration of the training if needed.
  • Learning outcome:

    Those who complete this course:

  • have a basic understanding of 3D modeling in Autodesk Fusion 360
  • are proficient in using the basic modeling and editing tools in Autodesk Fusion 360
  • are skilled in working with surfaces and components
  • understand the basic principles of product preparation for manufacturing
  • understand the basic principles of simulation in Autodesk Fusion 360
  • Training methods:

    Total course duration: 180 academic hours, including 64 academic hours in the classroom (16 academic hours of practical sessions and 1 seminar (84 academic hours))

    Evaluation criteria for learning outcomes:

    Learning outcomes are assessed based on independently completed practical work.

    Evaluation methods:

    Upon successful completion, practical and homework assignments receive a "pass" grade.

    Course completion conditions:

    To successfully complete the course and receive a certificate, it is necessary to achieve a "pass" grade on 75% of the homework assignments.
